Cheswick Borough Snow Update
January 27, 2026
Here is a brief update on snow removal efforts throughout the Borough:
• Public Works is continuing to clear roads and plow curb to curb where possible. Although we do our best to minimize snow piles around driveways and parked cars, some buildup is unavoidable. Our primary responsibility is to keep streets open and passable. If you need additional assistance, many local landscaping companies offer snow removal services.
• We received a delivery of 80 tons of salt today. Crews will continue plowing and salting throughout the Borough. For an average winter event, it takes approximately 10–15 tons to salt our 16+ miles of roads. Additional salt is on order.
• Trash pickup could be delayed one day, please put it to the curb on your regularly scheduled day. If your trash is not collected on Wednesday, it will be picked up the following day. Our provider, Noble – County Hauling, is experiencing the same winter weather challenges as everyone else.
• Caution: A broken manhole collar at the corner of Pittsburgh Street appears to have been damaged by a snowplow. Crews are in the process of making repairs. The area is marked with cones—please use caution when traveling through the intersection.
• Alleys will be plowed as time allows. Streets remain the first priority.
• Excessive snow mounds, particularly in cul de sacs, will be removed when time allows.
How You Can Help:
• If possible, please keep cars off the street.
• Clear public sidewalks and do not block pathways.
• Do not shovel snow back onto the roadway.
• Clear snow from around fire hydrants.
• Clear snow from storm drains to help prevent melting snow from refreezing on the streets.
• Use extreme caution on hills and at intersections—roads may remain slick for several days.
• Check on neighbors and lend a hand when you can.
We understand how inconvenient and difficult the aftermath of a storm of this magnitude can be. We appreciate your patience and want to remind everyone that our Public Works crew is doing the very best they can under challenging conditions.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
