January 26, 2026.
Effective 1:00 pm on January 26, 2026 the Snow Emergency Declaration will be cancelled for New Salem Borough.
Thank you to everyone who did not park on the roadways during the snow storm! It made the clearing of our roads much more efficient and safe.
If you must drive today, please be aware of the potential for drifting snow. With the temperature expected to reach the mid 20s and a forecast for a sunny day any melting will quickly refreeze as the sun sets this evening. Please exercise extreme care when driving!
The sleet we received at the end of the storm has made the snow very heavy. Please take care when shoveling and a break now and then will help save your back.
