Extreme Cold Warning issued January 26 at 12:42AM CST until January 26 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Corpus Christi TX
* WHAT...For the Freeze Warning, sub-freezing temperatures as low as
23. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind chills as low as
16. For the Extreme Cold Warning, dangerously cold wind chills as
low as 10 expected.
* WHERE...Coastal Kleberg, Coastal Nueces, Coastal San Patricio,
Duval, Inland Kleberg, Inland Nueces, Inland San Patricio, Jim
Wells, Kleberg Islands, Nueces Islands, and Webb Counties.
* WHEN...For the Freeze Warning and Extreme Cold Warning, until noon
CST today. For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 3 AM CST early
this morning.
* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to
hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions
could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage
unprotected outdoor plumbing.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...An extension of the Freeze Warning will be
needed for Tuesday morning but wanted to focus on this morning's
extreme cold.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
