Description
As many residents are aware from all the recent posts and weather forecasts, we are anticipating a heavy snowfall from Saturday evening into sometime Monday. The Liberty Borough Council, Mayor, Police Department, and Public Works Department are asking for your cooperation to help ensure the safety of our community.
Please consider the following:
- Limit Travel unless absolutely necessary until roadways have been properly cleared and snow has stopped. Stay home if you can.
- Keep the roadways as clear as possible. When parking, use driveways when available and move vehicles as far off the roadway as possible to allow the snowplows and emergency vehicles to pass through.
- Do not shovel snow onto roadways.
** Please shovel safely; work at a steady pace, use proper lifting techniques, take frequent breaks, and watch for signs of physical strain. Ask for assistance if needed, and offer help to others when able.
- Be prepared at home.
** Check heating sources, test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. ensure emergency supplies are available, and fully charge electronic devices.
- Please be patient. The Public Works Department works diligently during snow events; however weather conditions can be unpredictable and challenging. Mother Nature can get angry😆Priority is given to hills, main roads, and intersections before the guys can move on to residential streets and alleys. If your road has not yet been plowed, please do not panic~ they will reach it as soon as conditions and scheduling allow. Rest assure, there is a system in place, and our public works department are prepared to do their job throughout this snowstorm.
The Public Works, Police, and Fire Departments anticipated working and volunteering(Fire Department) long hours over the next couple days. We sincerely thank them for their continued dedication and hard work in keeping our community safe and operational.
