Description
Due to the impending snowstorm, residents are urged to be prepared to remain in their homes for several days. You still have time to prepare. A helpful resource for personal emergency planning can be found at:

🚗 Vehicle Removal & Street Access
Removing vehicles from Borough streets and alleys is critical for snow removal operations. Snowplows cannot safely or effectively clear roadways when cars are parked along the street.
➡️ Please move vehicles to your driveway, the municipal lots at Nitchkey Park and Fairmount Parks, or the lot behind the Borough Office.
This greatly assists Public Works in keeping streets passable for emergency services.
🛠️ Public Works Notice
Red Lion’s Public Works crew will be working throughout the entire storm. They are already fatigued from last weekend’s weather event, yet continue to show up to keep our community safe.
Please be patient and kind.
Also, please understand the physics of plowing: when the plow passes, snow will naturally be pushed back across driveway entrances. This cannot be avoided.
These workers will spend days clearing the roads for residents and still must go home later to clear their own properties.
🚫 Travel Advisory
Non essential travel is strongly discouraged due to anticipated heavy snowfall and rapidly deteriorating road conditions.
Snowplows and emergency vehicles require clear, unobstructed roadways to operate safely.
🚶 Sidewalk Clearing Requirements
In accordance with Borough ordinances:
• Sidewalks must be cleared within 12 hours after snowfall ends or if after 6pm, by 6pm thr following day.
• It is illegal to throw, plow, blow, or place snow from sidewalks or private property onto Borough streets.
• Violators may be subject to fines.
For the safety of emergency responders—especially firefighters—residents should maintain a three (3) foot clearance around any fire hydrants on or near their property.
📞 Emergency Assistance
If you have an immediate or urgent need, always dial 911.
The Borough Office is currently closed due to the weather emergency, but staff will be monitoring phone calls and all messages.
❤️ Check on Vulnerable Neighbors
With temperatures expected to drop significantly, please take a moment to check on elderly neighbors, those with mobility challenges, or anyone who may need assistance.
