Winter Storm Watch issued January 23 at 10:11AM EST until January 26 at 7:00PM EST by NWS Buffalo NY
* WHAT...For the Winter Weather Advisory, lake effect snow expected.
Total snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches in the most persistent lake
snows. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce blowing and
drifting snow. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow with
significant accumulations likely.
* WHERE...Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, and Northern Cayuga Counties.
* WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, from 3 PM this afternoon
to 10 AM EST Saturday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late
Saturday night through Monday evening.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult with snow covered roads.
Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The
hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute.
Snow will result in snow covered roads and limited visibilities.
Slow down and use caution while driving.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally
heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just
a few miles away. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather,
visibility, and road conditions.
