Snow Emergency Declared — Important Resident Information
New Freedom Borough has declared a snow emergency starting Saturday, January 24 at 7:00 PM and continuing through Tuesday, January 27 at 7:00 AM. Please read below for key details to keep our streets clear and safe:
Sidewalk Snow Removal
All property owners, tenants, or occupants are required to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks adjacent to your property within 24 hours after the snowfall ends. Sidewalks must be cleared to at least 36 inches wide so pedestrians can pass safely.
Snow Emergency Routes & Parking Restrictions
During a snow emergency, parking restrictions go into effect on designated snow emergency routes to allow Public Works to plow and treat streets efficiently. It becomes unlawful to park on these routes until the emergency is lifted. Vehicles left parked on these routes may be subject to fines and towing at the owner’s expense under Borough traffic regulations. (see attached snow emergency route listing)
Driving Conditions
Please exercise extreme caution if travel is necessary. Roads and intersections may be hazardous due to snow and ice. Avoid unnecessary travel so crews can operate safely and efficiently.
Help Us Keep New Freedom Safe
Clear your sidewalks promptly.
Move vehicles off snow emergency routes quickly once the emergency is declared.
Do not push or deposit snow into the street or across intersections.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping our crews keep our Borough safe.
