Description
Hello Hatboro.

What we know about the next snowstorm of the season, it is going to snow anywhere from 1 inch to ????inches. The forecasts are all saying it is going to snow starting sometime Saturday night.

What we do know.....
- Your Public Works Team is waiting for the first flakes and prepared to hit the streets when it starts to snow and will be out there until every street is clear in the Borough.
- The Borough has declared a snow emergency starting at 6 PM on Saturday evening.
- Main Roads, Snow Emergency Routes and critical borough facilities are always a priority. This includes the Police Station, Fire House and Second Alarmers.
- If you live on a private road in the Borough, remember we do not plow so now would be the time to ensure that you have contracted a private service for snow removal.
- If you use a commercial snow removal firm, please be reminded that Borough ordinance prohibits snow being removed from private property or parking lots and placed in the roadway. Our drivers will contact the police when they see a private plow operator dumping snow in a Borough roadway.
- We are monitoring the weather, the accumulation and the timing, there is a chance that trash collection for Monday will be cancelled. Stay tuned for more info on this.
- If you can stay home, please do!!! Staying off the roads allows our staff to be out there without traffic and allows them to keep the roads clear and passable as well as clean up quicker so we can get all of you back out and about again.
- If you have to drive, leave space and do not follow Borough vehicles closely, give us space to operate.
- If you can remove all vehicles off streets, we appreciate it, makes our job easier and we can plow curb to curb. Keep in mind we make a few passes and streets are not always plowed curb to curb on first pass. First pass is to keep roads open for travel.
- Remove objects from street, while we love that kids play basketball in the street, those portable nets impact snow plowing and are dangerous to our operators. (One of those fell and went through the windshield).
- Remember you have to remove snow from sidewalks 24 hours after snow stops. It has snowed a lot this winter and we have seen many young kids out making a few bucks while helping those that cannot clear walks. Hopefully those youngsters will still be around after this storm to shovel.
- Remember when you shovel, Public Works could be back and still plowing. While our operators feel bad when plowing especially after seeing a resident shoveling the end of their driveway, we cannot lift the plow at each driveway. We will dust off snow shoveling tips and share.
- If you have a fire hydrant on your property, help our volunteers by clearing the hydrant, while our volunteers know where hydrants are, other fire companies who may have to respond do not, help them to help you in an emergency.
- You may have heard there is a shortage of road salt, we are happy to report because our staff is always planning and preparing, we are not experiencing that and have salt if needed for this storm.
- Once the snow stops, Borough Public Works staff will be clearing all Borough owned sidewalks, again this is sidewalks that are on Borough property, we want to remind you that we do not shovel private homeowners' sidewalks. We will not be shoveling any walks in Borough parks as we do not have the time or the staff to do this.

This storm is going to be a long one for our Public Works staff, please understand that they are doing their best to clear your roads so you can all get out of the house and back to school and work next week.
Borough Hall staff will be posting updates over the weekend.

Stay warm, stay safe and enjoy what we hope is the last snow of the season.

Thank you for your continued cooperation and patience this winter.
