Public Notice – Warming Center Contingency & Winter Travel Advisory
We have been in contact with the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company regarding the upcoming winter weather and the potential for power outages.
If conditions warrant and a loss of power occurs, a warming center will be opened at the Harrisville Volunteer Fire Company for those in need. Additional details, including hours of operation, will be shared promptly should it become necessary.
After discussions with our local Municipal Emergency Management Coordinator, PEMA, and the National Weather Service residents are strongly advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary. Snow and ice are expected to make travel dangerous, and travel restrictions will be in place. If travel is unavoidable, residents should ensure they have emergency supplies in their vehicle in the event they become stranded.
Please use caution with secondary heating sources. Do not use gas stoves or gas heaters for heating purposes, as this can create a serious carbon monoxide hazard.
