Extreme Cold Watch issued January 21 at 11:24PM CST until January 26 at 12:00PM CST by NWS Houston/Galveston TX
* WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, visibility one half mile or
less in dense fog. For the Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold
wind chills as low as 7 possible.
* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas.
* WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 9 AM CST Thursday. For
the Extreme Cold Watch, from Saturday evening through Monday
morning.
* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures. An extended period of freezing
temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Low visibility
could make driving conditions hazardous.
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.
To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain them.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and leave plenty of
distance ahead of you.
