Description
Snow Squall Warning issued January 19 at 12:48PM EST until January 19 at 1:15PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA

At 1248 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line from
13 miles north of Shanor-Northvue to 5 miles south of Oak Hills, or
along a line from 13 miles east of Grove City to 8 miles south of
Butler, moving east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated
with intense bursts of snow and blowing snow. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.

SOURCE...Doppler radar and webcams.

IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.

Locations impacted include...
McCandless Township, Cranberry, Butler, Franklin Park, Kittanning,
Rimersburg, Hampton Township, Lower Burrell, Harrison Township,
Economy, Wexford, Homeacre-Lyndora, Shanor-Northvue, Tarentum,
Natrona Heights, Meridian, Zelienople, Brackenridge, Ford City and
Seven Fields.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania near mile marker 53. Interstate 79 in
Pennsylvania between mile markers 74 and 101. Pennsylvania Turnpike
between mile markers 25 and 39.

Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.

There is no safe place on a highway when a snow squall hits.
Visibility and traction are immediately lost in whiteout conditions,
making it difficult or impossible to slow down and avoid stopped
vehicles. Delay travel or safely exit the highway before the snow
squall arrives.
