* Snow Squall Warning for...

* Until 115 PM EST.
* At 1229 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
from over Slippery Rock to over Cranberry, or along a line from 7
miles south of Grove City to over Cranberry, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.
SOURCE...Doppler radar and webcams.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
* Locations impacted include...
McCandless Township, Cranberry, New Castle, Butler, Franklin Park,
Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Monaca, Vandergrift, Kittanning, Apollo,
Rimersburg, Shaler Township, Hampton Township, New Kensington,
Lower Burrell, Harrison Township, Economy, Ellwood City and
Ambridge.
This includes the following highways...
Parkway North near mile marker 13. Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania
between mile markers 52 and 53. Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between
mile markers 72 and 105. Interstate 376 between mile markers 18 and
43. Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 1 and 46.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
There is no safe place on a highway when a snow squall hits.
Visibility and traction are immediately lost in whiteout conditions,
making it difficult or impossible to slow down and avoid stopped
vehicles. Delay travel or safely exit the highway before the snow
squall arrives.
