Description
Snow Squall Warning issued January 17 at 3:08PM EST until January 17 at 3:30PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 308 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line from
7 miles north of Sugarcreek to near Grove City, or along a line from
10 miles northwest of Oil City to near Grove City, moving east at 25
mph.
HAZARD...Whiteout conditions with near zero visibility associated
with intense bursts of snow and blowing snow. Wind gusts up
to 35 mph.
SOURCE...Doppler radar and webcams.
IMPACT...Dangerous and life-threatening travel conditions are
expected to develop rapidly in the warning area.
Locations impacted include...
Oil City, Grove City, Franklin, Sugarcreek, Slippery Rock, Hasson
Heights, Harrisville, Polk, Plain Grove Township, Sandy Lake,
Rouseville, Clintonville, Cooperstown, West Liberty, Harlansburg,
Kennerdell, Barkeyville, Woodland Heights, Pleasantville and Utica.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
There is no safe place on a highway when a snow squall hits.
Visibility and traction are immediately lost in whiteout conditions,
making it difficult or impossible to slow down and avoid stopped
vehicles. Delay travel or safely exit the highway before the snow
squall arrives.
