Pocono Township is currently accepting applications for the position of Vacancy Chair.
In a First-Class Township, the Vacancy Chair serves an important statutory role. If a vacancy occurs on the Board of Commissioners and the remaining Commissioners are unable to reach a majority decision on a replacement, the Vacancy Chair is called upon to cast the deciding vote. This position helps ensure continuity of governance and prevents a stalemate that could delay Township operations.
This is a annual term, unpaid, and no prior governmental experience is required. The role is activated only when needed and does not involve regular meetings.
Interviews will be held at the January 20th meeting at 6:00 p.m.
