Flood Watch issued January 5 at 3:28PM HST until January 6 at 6:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI
...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH 6 AM HST TUESDAY FOR ALL
HAWAIIAN ISLANDS...
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible. The best chance tonight is on windward Big Island,
windward Maui, and over Kauai County.
* WHERE...All the main Hawaiian islands.
* WHEN...Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff. Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow
of streams and drainages. Landslides may also occur in areas with
steep terrain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Unsettled weather will continue through tonight as as upper
level low begins to weaken a few hundred miles west of the
state.
Expect periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall and
isolated thunderstorms. The greatest flood risk will remain
over Kauai County and along southeast facing mountain slopes
of the Big Island and Maui County.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
