Description
Snow Squall Warning issued January 1 at 1:30AM EST until January 1 at 2:00AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 130 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line from
over Derry to 7 miles southeast of East Washington, or along a line
from near Latrobe to 8 miles southeast of Washington, moving south at
30 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
Locations impacted include...
Greensburg, Jeannette, Latrobe, Monessen, California, Donora, Mount
Pleasant, Monongahela, Charleroi, McChesneytown-Loyalhanna,
Youngwood, West Newton, Bentleyville, Lawson Heights, Brownsville,
New Stanton, Fredericktown-Millsboro, Perryopolis, New Eagle and
North Belle Vernon.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 70 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 24 and 57.
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 17 and 19...and
between mile markers 23 and 30. Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile
markers 69 and 82.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
