Description
Snow Squall Warning issued January 1 at 1:32AM EST until January 1 at 2:15AM EST by NWS State College PA
At 132 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
extending from Zion to Lovelton, moving southeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and visibility rapidly falling to less than
one-quarter mile. Wind gusts greater than 35 mph.
SOURCE...Radar and webcams.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
For those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the
Bellefonte and Limestoneville exits, specifically from mile markers
162 to 214.
This includes Interstate 180 from mile markers 1 to 29.
This includes the following highways...
Route 15 from New Columbia to south of Trout Run.
Route 220 from near Bellefonte on I-80 to north of Dushore.
State Road 45 from Millheim to Hartleton.
State Road 118 from Hughesville to west of Red Rock.
State Road 120 from north of Lock Haven to Lock Haven.
State Highway 147 from I-80 to Milton.
Locations impacted include...
Williamsport, Lock Haven, Milton, Montoursville, Jersey Shore,
Mifflinburg, Carroll, Woodward, Lamar, Muncy, Watsontown, and
Hughesville.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes
your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra
time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead
to accidents.
