Description
Snow Squall Warning issued December 31 at 11:47PM EST until January 1 at 12:15AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 1147 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line from
over Rimersburg to over New Philadelphia, moving southeast at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts up
to 30 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
Locations impacted include...
Cranberry, New Philadelphia, Butler, Dover, East Liverpool, Beaver
Falls, Monaca, Uhrichsville, Wellsville, Carrollton, Rimersburg,
Ellwood City, Homeacre-Lyndora, New Brighton, Shanor-Northvue,
Beaver, Calcutta, Meridian, Zelienople and Rochester.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 77 in Ohio between mile markers 79 and 86. Interstate 79
in Pennsylvania between mile markers 83 and 97. Interstate 376
between mile markers 25 and 39. Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile
markers 8 and 25.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
