Description
Snow Squall Warning issued December 30 at 1:40AM EST until December 30 at 2:30AM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 139 AM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located over Sharpsburg,
or near Penn Hills, moving east at 20 mph.
HAZARD...Intense bursts of heavy snow. Gusty winds leading to
blowing snow and rapidly falling visibility. Wind gusts up
to 20 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
This includes the following highways...
Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 41 and 57.
Parkway North between mile markers 4 and 7.
Interstate 376 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 79 and 84.
Locations impacted include...
Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Ross Township, McCandless Township,
Monroeville, Shaler Township, Plum, Murrysville, Hampton Township,
Wilkinsburg, New Kensington, Lower Burrell, O'hara Township,
Bellevue, West View, Wilkins Township, Oakmont, Fox Chapel, Arnold,
and Avalon.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
