Description
On order of the Mayor of West York Borough, Bruce Vick, West York Borough will have a Winter Weather Emergency declaration in effect in West York Borough. Emergency operations will be facilitated by West York Borough’s Emergency Management Office and West York Borough’s Public Works Department.
DECLARATION TIMING:
THE DECLARATION WILL BE IN EFFECT on friday December 26th at 7AM and end December 27 at 7AM. This declaration will run and run concurrent with the winter weather advisory in effect until Saturday December 27th at 7am. If the National Weather service advisory changes in duration or timing the declaration will follow suit
DECLARATION ORDER:
All Borough roads will see a reduction in the speed limit. Roads posted at 35 MPH will be reduced to 25MPH. Roads posted at 25MPH will be reduced to 15 MPH.
This order will not in any way modify residential parking
The declaration orders a reduction in the speed limit from 35MPH to 25MPH and 25MPH to 15MPH. It also strongly encourages people to stay home and stay off the roads.
West York Borough Emergency Management is recommending families review their emergency plans due to the potential of icyng which puts stress on tree limbs and powerlines which can cause downed power lines and electrical outages.
