Description
Snow Squall Warning issued December 19 at 3:52PM EST until December 19 at 4:00PM EST by NWS Pittsburgh PA
At 352 PM EST, A dangerous snow squall was located along a line from
10 miles southwest of Knox to 10 miles west of Indiana, moving
northeast at 35 mph.
HAZARD...Flash freeze on roads and rapidly falling visibility due to
intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
Locations impacted include...
Cranberry, Indiana, Butler, Beaver Falls, Monaca, Vandergrift,
Kittanning, Apollo, Harrison Township, Economy, Ellwood City,
Homeacre-Lyndora, New Brighton, Shanor-Northvue, Beaver, Meridian,
Zelienople, Rochester, Ohioville and Ford City.
This includes the following highways...
Interstate 79 in Pennsylvania between mile markers 78 and 100.
Interstate 376 between mile markers 22 and 39. Pennsylvania Turnpike
between mile markers 5 and 30.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads, bridges
and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and be
prepared for sudden loss of traction.
