* Snow Squall Warning for...
Northeastern Columbiana County in east central Ohio...
Northern Allegheny County in southwestern Pennsylvania...
Butler County in west central Pennsylvania...
Beaver County in western Pennsylvania...
Southern Lawrence County in western Pennsylvania...
* Until 315 PM EST.
* At 227 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
from over East Palestine to over Coraopolis, or along a line from
over East Palestine to near Franklin Park, moving east at 40 mph.
HAZARD...Flash freeze on roads and rapidly falling visibility due
to intense bursts of heavy snow and gusty winds. Wind
gusts up to 35 mph.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.
* Locations impacted include...
Ross Township, McCandless Township, Cranberry, Moon Township,
Butler, Franklin Park, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Columbiana, Monaca,
East Palestine, Shaler Township, Hampton Township, New Kensington,
Lower Burrell, Harrison Township, Economy, Ellwood City, Ambridge
and Wexford.
This includes the following highways...
Parkway North between mile markers 10 and 13. Interstate 79 in
Pennsylvania between mile markers 68 and 103. Interstate 376 between
mile markers 19 and 51. Pennsylvania Turnpike between mile markers 1
and 44.
Slow Down! Rapid changes in visibility and road conditions are
expected with this dangerous snow squall. Be alert for sudden
whiteout conditions.
Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads, bridges
and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and be
prepared for sudden loss of traction.
Serious injuries and deaths may result from people exiting their
vehicles during a snow squall. Drivers may not be able to see you or
stop! If you have been involved in an accident or pulled to the side
of the roadway, quickly exit your vehicle and move as far away from
the roadway as possible ONLY when it is safe to do so. Do not stand
along or near the roadway, since approaching vehicles may be unable
to maintain control.
