Description
The Borough was made aware this afternoon that the West Moreland Avenue bridge project will be starting soon.
Motorists will begin to see detour signs being placed. We are being told that motorists should expect to see the road closed in the beginning of January 2026.
Motorists who use this road should begin to plan accordingly for a new route as well as leave additional time.
For those residents who live adjacent to the bridge in Hatboro, you will still receive trash collection, snow removal and emergency services as the road is open in this area, and we can get to you.
Eaton Park will also still be available for visitors, parking may be an issue at times during construction, but the pool lot across the street will be accessible as well.
There will be construction equipment and trailers in Eaton Park for the project, please stay clear of this area and the equipment.
The Borough will continue to post messages as promised reminding everyone the bridge is closing. This will be an extended closure. This project is very complex due to a number of factors including utility infrastructure that needs to be moved before the actual bridge is replaced and then when done, needs to be placed back, it is not a simple project and involves multiple agencies.
Again, please plan accordingly. We do realize that persons who are familiar with the area will not follow the detour and use neighboring streets. The streets are public, and traffic can use them, but all traffic laws must be followed. The police department will be monitoring this area there will be enforcement if needed.
Any questions about the project, you can reach out to Borough Hall, and we will try and respond, if we cannot, we will reach out to the County or the Contractor. West Moreland Avenue Bridge is owned by the County, and this is a county project.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience.
