Description
Tree Removal – Broadhead Avenue

Crafton Borough would like to notify residents that Classic Landscaping is resuming their tree removal along Broadhead Avenue today and will continue into next week. The removal of these trees includes three large Sycamores as well as a couple smaller species. Please note that this tree removal is necessary to accommodate the Broadhead Storm Sewer Separation project that is currently underway and that the Borough tried to save as many trees as possible.

Keeping the importance of Borough trees in mind during this process, a collaboration between Crafton and Pittsburgh Urban Tree has come together to repurpose as much wood as possible from the Sycamores. Urban Tree will be hauling away log sections of each of these trees where they will be milled, seasoned and processed over the course of two years to become sellable wood products including chairs, signs, tables, etc. Due to the size of these trees, approximately 22,000 board feet of wood is expected to be generated from these logs.

Broadhead Avenue will be open to traffic while this work takes place but please use caution and be aware of workers, contractor vehicles and heavy leaf and branch debris on the ground. Any delay in traffic is expected to be brief and temporary.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve the infrastructure in our neighborhood.
