TRASH & RECYCLING COLLECTION ON HOLIDAYS

Hello followers.
We see many with Tuesday trash and recycling collection placed for collection curbside for pick up yesterday. It was very windy, and a lot of the trash and recycling has blown around on lawns and in the roadway. November 11th is Veterans Day and is an observed holiday by Borough staff.
If you have cans out for collection from Tuesday, you will need to remove them from the curb as well as clean up any of your trash and recycling that may have blown onto the street or neighbor's property.
The Borough has been reminding our followers for the past month a holiday was approaching and there would be no collection, yet it appears many missed the reminders.
We post every Wednesday on our facebook page ways to be in the know in Hatboro and be an informed citizen.
We used to tell residents that if it was a federal holiday, there would be no trash and recycling collection but that changed a few years ago when a new Public Works contract was approved, some federal holidays were removed, and staff were giving floating days to take so we could get trash and recycling collected.
Some holidays though remain and those holidays we DO NOT collect are as follows:
New Year's Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Day
Note: If the Holiday falls on a Saturday, then it is observed on the Friday before, if it falls on a Sunday, then it is observed the Monday after.
If you need us to send you a reminder to hang on the refrigerator of holidays to NOT put your trash and recycling out, just let us know. We include a clip in each newsletter to remind everyone.
We are in the process today of scheduling a number of reminders over the next two weeks letting everyone know there IS NO trash or recycling collection on Thanksgiving Day and the Day after.
