Description
Full-time Laborer role is an entry-level position involving manual and unskilled tasks related to maintenance and construction projects. Responsibilities include assisting with the installation of curbing, sidewalks, and street signs; snow removal; maintenance and repair of Borough property; and operating various equipment such as trucks and mowers. Laborers may transition to an Operator I position within 18 months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Candidates should possess basic knowledge of tools, equipment care, job safety, and maintenance procedures. Essential abilities include effective communication, following instructions, and performing physical tasks, such as lifting heavy objects. A valid Pennsylvania Class C driver’s license is required.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The role involves heavy manual labor in various weather conditions and may require emergency work outside normal hours. Safety protocols must be adhered to due to potential hazards in the work environment.
