Description
As cold weather sets in, make sure your home heating system is ready for the season:
• Have your furnace inspected annually by a qualified technician to ensure safe operation.
• Check and replace filters regularly to improve efficiency and air quality.
• Keep flammable items at least three feet away from your furnace or space heaters.
• Install and test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home. Replace batteries twice a year.
• Never use ovens or stoves for heat and turn off space heaters before leaving a room or going to bed.
In the event of an emergency:
• If you smell gas, leave your home immediately and call 911 from outside or from a neighbor’s house.
• If your carbon monoxide alarm sounds, evacuate right away, call 911, and do not re-enter until emergency crews give the all-clear.
Stay warm, stay safe, and help protect your family this winter.
