🌧 What is the Stormwater Fee & Why Do We Have It? 🌧
Our Stormwater Management Program keeps our community’s drainage systems running, prevents flooding, and ensures we meet state & federal regulations.
💧 How it Works:
🏠 Each property is billed based on its impervious area – things like roofs, driveways, patios, garages, and sheds that don’t let water soak into the ground.
📊 Properties are grouped into 5 tiers based on the amount of impervious area.
💵 Borough of Duboistown rate: $15.00 per IAU per month
(1 IAU = 2,480 sq. ft. of impervious area)
The fee is added to your sewer bill (or billed separately if you don’t have a sewer account).
✅ Why It’s Fair:
Everyone contributes because everyone benefits — even tax-exempt and non-profit properties pay their share.
💰 Where the Money Goes:
All revenue for the Stormwater Budget comes directly from the stormwater fee. This funding supports:
✔ Maintaining stormwater pipes & inlets
✔ Meeting federal & state mandates
✔ Planning for future capital improvements
✔ Reducing local flooding & pollution
🌱 This program began in July 2020 and ensures we can maintain a safe, sustainable stormwater system for years to come.
