📢 Getting Ready for Duboistown Borough’s 2026 Budget Season

Budget season is almost here, and we want YOU to be part of the process! Over the next several weeks, we’ll be sharing a series of posts to help residents understand how the Borough’s budget works — where our revenue comes from, what expenses we have, and how each line item is tracked and recorded.

Municipal budgeting is a lot like a family budget — we plan carefully to make sure the money we bring in can cover the money we need to spend. But unlike a family budget, Duboistown Borough’s budget is a legally adopted document and public record that guides our operations for the entire year.

Our goal is simple: build a sustainable future for Duboistown Borough. This means maintaining safe neighborhoods, reliable roads, a well-functioning sewer system, and encouraging community involvement.

As we shared earlier this year, 2025 and 2026 are focused on capital planning and creating a strategic plan for the Borough. Staff and elected officials will continue looking for ways to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and support the wellbeing and financial stability of our community.

Stay tuned for upcoming posts that break down:

✅ Revenue sources (taxes, fees, grants)
✅ Major expense categories
✅ How line items are organized and tracked
✅ How you can engage in the budget process

Together, we can make informed decisions that keep Duboistown thriving for years to come! 💚

Our first 2026 meeting for the Budget will be on September 24th at 4:30 pm. During this meeting, we will review the suggestions from the State on line items and accounts. And review the process when posting expenses or revenue to those items and accounts. Keep your eye out for the agenda for this meeting.
