Extreme Heat Watch issued July 22 at 2:06AM CDT until July 24 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lincoln IL
* WHAT...For the Heat Advisory, heat index values of 100 to 106
expected. For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions
with heat index values up of 105 to 115 possible.
* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Illinois.
* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from noon today to 7 PM CDT this
evening. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Wednesday morning
through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
