The profoundly unfortunate gun violence that just occurred in our community, resulting in two fatalities, are still under investigation. I have tremendous confidence in our police officers and the team from Allegheny County that is investigating.
Gun violence is epidemic in our country and, of course, we are not immune from it. At the local level, we have already added more officers to our Police Department, we have added to our budget to hire more officers and we are discussing implementation of other ideas to keep Penn Hills safe.
Penn Hills has so much to offer - our location, beautiful homes, parks, municipal services, our volunteer base and so much more. Unfortunately, these targeted incidents detract from our great community.
To our community and all who are affected by gun violence, our thoughts and prayers go out to you. Please know that we are actively working on ways to increase public safety.
