Hazard Mitigation Grant Program 2025 - Hurricane Helene
Town Meeting Details
The City of Cedar Key is offering an opportunity for property owners impacted by Hurricane Helene to apply
for the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP). This program aims to assist with elevation or mitigation
reconstruction for qualifying homes. The grant is a matching grant, with 75% funded by HMGP and a 25%
homeowner match.
At this meeting:
● Savinacious, our consulting firm, will provide a brief introduction and Q&A
● They will be taking applications for qualified properties.
● Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis, with all your qualifying documents and
payment in full in order to submit your application.
● Application entry will be completed during this meeting.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible, your home must proof of ownership and proof that your property has been substantially damaged by Hurricane Helene and qualify for either:
1. Elevation: Your home is structurally sound enough to be elevated.
2. Mitigation Reconstruction: Your home was lost or substantially damaged and is eligible for rebuilding or
hardening.
You are NOT eligible if you are already on another HMGP list for elevation or mitigation reconstruction (e.g.,
for Application Fee
A $500 application fee is required by Savinacious at the time of application.
● If your HMGP Hurricane Helene application is approved, the $500 fee will be credited to your project.
● If your application is not approved, Savinacious will retain the fee for their processing services.
Required Documents
Savinacious requests you have the following documents and/or information available at the time of application:
1. Proof of ownership
2. Substantial damage letter from City of Cedar Key Building & Zoning Official
Important Notes
● Participation and submission of an HMGP application does not guarantee grant approval or funding. Final
selection is subject to State and Federal approval processes.
● All interested property owners are strongly encouraged to attend to learn more and begin the application
process.
