Description
The Borough participated in a call with Peco on Sunday at 2:00 PM.
Peco has provided the following update to share with their customers.
Peco is reporting they have made major progress; we know that this is not news for some who are still without power. Thursday night at the height of the storm there were 90% of Peco customers without power. Today Peco is reporting 95 % of those without power now have it back. Peco hopes to be at 98% by tonight.
They have 2600 line and tree workers from 9 states assisting and supplementing their 3000 employees.
Unfortunately, Peco has had to make some changes to some of the original restoration times, and they are making every effort to communicate with those who are affected. Peco is aware this storm came at the worst time during the first real heat wave of the season, and they have been communicating with area municipalities to gather information on cooling centers, which they are sharing on their website.
There is going to be some longer wait times for those in areas with low customer counts without power at this time.
Currently they are reporting roughly 19,000 without power, of those 6000 are in Montgomery County and the Borough has under 50 without power at the time of the call.
If you have a concern, question or issue with your power being out we continue to encourage you to reach out to PECO by visiting their website or using the app.
A big thanks to some of our PW staff who have been working very hard since Thursday night to get the Borough cleaned up, it has been no easy feat as we suffered a lot of damage to Borough infrastructure and parks.
This will be our last update for the day unless we receive any additional information to share.
Reminder if you have trees and branches to clean up, the Borough PW Department will be waiving collection rules for yard waste and debris pick up for the next week or so. Please note that trash and recycling need to be collected first, so if you see a truck and they do not take your yard waste, do not worry we will get it. In addition to trash and recycling collection, PW staff has a lot of clean up in all of our parks from the storm.
Please continue to check on neighbors who maybe without power.
As always, any questions please reach out to us by email at dhegele@myhatboro.org. after hours or call Borough Hall at 215-443-9100 during business hours. We are here to help you.
