Description
Last evening, a very large storm impacted residents of Hatboro and neighboring municipalities. Unfortunately, a large number of properties within the Borough sustained damage due to the severity of the weather. As Hatboro works to clean up damage, the Borough is issuing the following reminders for residents:
- For the next few weeks, the Borough is waiving the yard waste restrictions for pickup by Public Works in an effort to assist residents with cleanup of trees, branches, etc. Residents are welcome to put as much yard waste to the curb as needed on their regular pickup days; however, please make sure that branches are properly bundled, all yard waste is placed in biodegradable bags, and that you are not placing trees/trunks/branches that are too heavy at the curb.
- Many properties within the Borough have experienced issues with their Shade Trees (a shade tree is any tree located within the public right of way). All Shade Trees within the Borough are regulated by the Shade Tree Ordinance. Typically, the Borough requires Shade Tree permits prior to any work performed to Shade Trees; however, these requirements are being relaxed allow residents and business owners to clean up their properties and remove any immediate hazards. The Borough will work with residents and business owners to have permit applications completed retroactively for any work performed to the trees to remove these immediate hazards. Please note, if you have a shade tree that was not damaged during the storm, you will need to apply for a shade tree permit prior to performing any work to the tree.
- If you have a shed, fence, house, or other structure on your property that was damaged by the storm, please make sure you apply for permits through the Borough of Hatboro.
There are still many streets closed and wires down in the Borough. Never drive around barricades or approach downed wires.
- PECO is working to restore service to properties throughout the Borough. For any power outage related questions, please contact PECO directly at 1-800-841-4141.
- The Borough of Hatboro Public Works Department continues to clean up Borough Facilities and Parks as well as clearing debris from the roadways. Due to the large amount of debris and fallen trees, cleanup work is going to take a decent amount of time. Public Works will be working this weekend to continue cleanup; however, there may still be areas that they do not get to within the Borough's parks. Until cleanup is completed, we are recommending that residents do not visit the Borough's parks.
- If you have a storm cleanup related question or concern that is not addressed above, please contact Borough Hall at 215-443-9100.
