Description
Chief Thomas recognized officers at the monthly Lower Windsor Township Board of Supervisors Meeting on Thursday May 8.
On January 18, an incident involving an armed, barricaded subject unfolded in Wrightsville Borough. The individual involved was live streaming the situation on Facebook Live. Ofc. Neff, who assisted Hellam Township Police Department, helped bring the situation under control. Ofc. Neff utilized mobile technology to help keep everyone informed throughout the incident. After the subject was non-lethally shot and taken into custody by police, Ofc. Neff immediately administered first aid. He continued to assist with processing the scene.
On May 1st at 1:59 am Sgt Leach and Ofc Miller responded to a medical call for childbirth of a breech baby in progress. Just prior to arrival, Sgt Leach and Ofc Miller were advised the baby had been delivered. Upon entering the home, the mother was standing there holding the newborn child who was not moving or breathing. Sgt Leach immediately took the baby from the mother and started CPR. Ofc Miller advised when the EMS crew arrived, and Sgt Leach carried the newborn to the ambulance. Sgt Leach continued with CPR and utilized a bag valve mask to provide oxygen to the baby. After several minutes of life saving efforts by PD and EMS the infant began showing improvement. Mom and baby were transported to the hospital. Sgt Leach later received an update that mom and baby were reported in good condition.
(Ofc Miller was unable to attend this meeting for his recognition.)
