Extreme Heat Warning issued May 14 at 2:31AM CDT until May 14 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Austin/San Antonio TX
* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures up to 111 and
heat index values up to 112 expected.
* WHERE...Much of south central Texas.
* WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, until 1 PM CDT this afternoon. For
the Extreme Heat Warning, from 1 PM this afternoon to 9 PM CDT
this evening.
* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high
humidity may cause heat illnesses.
Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
