Description
To Our Township Residents,
We understand and appreciate the concerns many of you have shared recently regarding the odors present in certain areas of our Township. We’ve received numerous calls and emails, and we want to take a moment to address this matter with the entire community.
Much of the activity causing these smells is related to seasonal farming operations. As a rural and agricultural community, we share our space with working farms that play an important role in our local economy and food supply. This includes practices such as manure spreading and other land management tasks that, while sometimes unpleasant in odor, are legally protected and essential to farm operations.
To help everyone better understand these rights and practices, we’ve attached a brochure explaining farmers' rights and the laws that support their activities. These protections are in place under the state’s Right to Farm Act and similar legislation, which allow farmers to carry out standard agricultural practices without interference.
We thank you for your patience, understanding, and continued support of our Township’s agricultural heritage. If you have further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our office.
