Description
POWER RESTORATION STATUS:
Good news! Most Crafton Borough residents have had their power restored as of last night (after midnight). However, approximately 88 Duquesne Light customers are still without power and may not have service restored for several days.
CHECK YOUR STATUS:
To see if your area is still affected, please check Duquesne Light's outage map at: https://duquesnelight.com/outages-safety/current-outages
FOOD SAFETY GUIDELINES:
For those who experienced extended outages, please follow these food safety guidelines:
Refrigerated food: After a power outage, never taste food to determine its safety. Perishable items are typically safe in your refrigerator for up to four hours without power, but only if the door remained closed.
Frozen food: A full freezer will hold a safe temperature for approximately 48 hours (24 hours if half full) if the door remains closed. Food can be refrozen if it still contains ice crystals or reads below 40°F on a food thermometer. AARP
When in doubt: When in doubt, throw it out! Discard any perishable food (meat, poultry, seafood, dairy, eggs, leftovers) that has been above 40°F for more than 2 hours.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT:
If you need assistance or know of neighbors who might need help, please contact the Borough office. For those still without power, Duquesne Light is working to prioritize restoration efforts.
The Crafton Ingram Food Pantry, located at 80 Bradford Ave in the Crafton United Presbyterian Church, will be open Tuesday from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
Also Giant Eagle announced they would be providing 15% off across the store on Sunday to help people restore their food supplies.
STAY SAFE:
Remember to stay at least 30 feet away from any downed power lines and report them immediately to Duquesne Light at 888-393-7000.
We appreciate your patience as crews work diligently to restore service to all residents. We will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
