Dear Residents/Property Owners
Once again we are embarking on “Bear Season” in Tannersville! As you may already know we on the Mountaintop reside within a portion of Catskill Park and as such we are the beneficiaries of all of the beauty and splendor our natural environment provides.
With that said, we are inherently responsible for respecting and maintaining the delicate balance between our activities and those of the natural order within which we coexist. It is an afront to that balance and an unforgivable offense that threatens the existence of the bear population when carelessness results in their capture and possible euthanization.
To that end, we are requesting that all waste receptacles be “bear-proof” and maintained as such. Failure to do so will result in fee’s for the restoration and clean-up of properties unwilling or unable to comply, including but not limited to additional fines and penalties which this office will pursue and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.
