SPRING REMINDER: PERMITS REQUIRED
As spring arrives and cleanup activities begin, we want to remind everyone about important permit requirements:
Dumpster Permits If you're planning spring cleaning or renovation projects that require a dumpster on public property/public street, please remember:
• A dumpster permit is required before placement on any public street,
• Applications must be submitted in advance,
• Applications can be submitted in-person at the Administrative Office along with the $20 fee,
• Dumpster permits are issued on a temporary 30-day basis.
Recreational Burn Permits With warmer weather approaching, we also remind residents about recreational fire regulations:
• A burn permit is required for all recreational fires (fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, etc.),
• Permits must be renewed annually,
• Applications can be submitted in-person at the Administrative Office along with the $20 fee,
• Crafton follows the Allegheny County Burning Regulations, which must be followed at all times.
Zoning Permits As you plan your spring and summer projects, please note that zoning permits are required for:
• Sheds and outdoor storage structures,
• Fences (new installation and some replacements),
• Swimming pools (both temporary and permanent),
• All auxiliary and accessory structures.
Zoning permits ensure compliance with local ordinances, proper setbacks, and safety standards.
Building Permits Building permits are required for structural changes and certain exterior improvements:
• Deck construction or modifications,
• Home renovations and additions,
• Driveway installation or replacement,
• Sidewalk construction or repair,
• Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC modifications.
Building permit applications must include project plans and may require professional certification. Inspections will be conducted at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with building codes.
All permit requirements help ensure community safety and proper management of public spaces. Applications are available in the Administrative Office during regular business hours.
