It is National Volunteer Week.
April 20th - April 26th, 2025
National Volunteer Week is celebrated annually during the third week of April. This week long celebration is about placing a spotlight on inspiring figures whose invaluable seeds of kindness through volunteering are bettering our community.
This significant celebration which was established in 1974 provides the perfect opportunity to say thank you. It also challenges us to do better and look for ways to be active participants, joining hands to impact our local communities.
Did you know Hatboro Borough has many committees and volunteers who spend countless hours giving back and making Hatboro a great place to live, work and visit.
Today we are going to recognize some more volunteers.
1. Pennypack Events Committee also known as the fun committee. This committee plans all the Borough sponsored events, Senior Activities, Bingo, Sip N Shop, Fireworks, Trunk or Treat and some new ones for 2025, stay tuned to their facebook page Hatboro Events
2. Community Garden located at Pennypack Community Center. The Borough acquired a grant for a comminuty garden which includes raised planters for handicapped accessibility. Volunteer’s maintain a variety of vegetables for the community. Interested in volunteering please call Borough Hall at 215-443-9100.
3. Bird Town Committee - Stay tuned for more information on this next week!
4. Pennypack Outdoor Committee - This committee was formed to plan the use of the Pennypack Property outside after the Borough acquired it. This committee no longer meets, but we thank the volunteers for their efforts. ?
5. Tree tenders - they are responsible for the maintenance of newly planted trees on various Borough properties. They receive training to do this, as volunteers. ?
6. Zoning Rewrite - this group was responsible for a rewrite of the existing zoning ordinances of the Borough of Hatboro. They have finished their work and their recommendations have been sent to the planning commission. ?
7. Chamber of Commerce - The Chamber is a volunteer organization of businesses and professionals who have joined together for the purpose of promoting the general welfare and prosperity of the Hatboro area. Known for events like the car show and the holiday parade, those volunteers helped to support the business community and residents of Hatboro.
