It is National Volunteer Week.
April 20th - April 26th, 2025
National Volunteer Week is celebrated annually during the third week of April. This week long celebration is about placing a spotlight on inspiring figures whose invaluable seeds of kindness through volunteering are bettering our community.
This significant celebration which was established in 1974 provides the perfect opportunity to say thank you. It also challenges us to do better and look for ways to be active participants, joining hands to impact our local communities.
Did you know Hatboro Borough has many committees and volunteers who spend countless hours giving back and making Hatboro a great place to live, work and visit.
Today we are going to recognize some of these volunteers.
Gardeners of Crooked Billet: This group works hard to keep several areas of the Borough pretty and clean They maintain the sign garden at York and Horsham, Children’s Garden at the Library and the Ryan Allen Plaza garden by Produce Junction.
H.A.T. Packs: This program partners with schools, community organization’s, local congregations, business and individual contributor’s to help fill weekend hunger gaps for local kids Helping Around Town (H.A.T.)volunteers ensures that meals are packed and delivered If you are interested in volunteering or giving check out their facebook page.
Meals on Wheels: Located at the Pennypack Community Center, Buc-Mont Meals on Wheels is a non profit organization that provides meals to Hatboro and surrounding communities Volunteers deliver meals every day and always add a friendly smile and quick chat.
Hart 2 Heart: another great organization based out of the Pennypack Community Center H2H is a donation based organization rescuing animals in our area. Their volunteers not only rescue animals but provide Education For more info on how to donate, volunteer or adopt visit their website at www.hart/heartsnimalrescie.org Sorry you cannot visit adoptable pets at Pennypack, you need to contact rescue for location to see pets for adoption.
Millbrook Society: They recently moved the Amy B. Yerkes Museum of Hatboro to the Pennypack Community Center Here you can meet volunteers who can show you the various artifacts, share stories about Hatboro history and other items related to Hatboro Past The museum is open during all events at Pennypack You can find more info on their website at www.millbrooksociety.org
Friends of Cressbrook: Friends of Cressbrook were formed when the Borough acquired the property located on York Road from Victorian Village FOC mission is to help restore the historic Cressbrook House and property. You can find more info on their facebook page
