Flash Flood Warning issued April 18 at 1:18PM HST until April 18 at 4:30PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
The island of Maui in Maui County

* Until 430 PM HST.

* At 118 PM HST, emergency management reported heavy rain over the
slopes and summit of Haleakala. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to
3 inches per hour. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.

SOURCE...Emergency management.

IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,
properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road
closures possible in some areas. Landslides are
possible in steep terrain.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Kahului, Kihei, Kula, Keokea, Pukalani, Makawao, Haliimaile,
Keanae, Huelo, Kipahulu, Kaupo, Haiku-Pauwela, Nahiku, Ulupalakua,
Wailea, Pauwela, Paia, Makena, Puunene and Maalaea.

Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even
if they are currently dry.

The heavy rains may cause rock and mudslides in steep terrain areas.
