Description
Town of Inglis Seeks Public Input as It Considers Applying for Community Development Block Grants
Inglis, FL βis actively exploring the opportunity to apply for funding through the Florida Commerce Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program.
In previous years, local governments were limited to submitting only one CDBG application per year. However, COMMERCE FINAL ORDER NO.: COM-25-003 has lifted this restriction, now allowing for multiple CDBG application submittals, offering a broader opportunity for eligible projects across the Town.
The CDBG Program, established under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), provides federal funding for critical housing and community development activities.
Project Requirements To be eligible, projects must meet at least one of the following National Objectives:
1.) Benefit to Low-and Moderate-Income Persons β At least 51% of beneficiaries must be low- and moderate-income households (earning no more than 80% of the area's median income).
2.) Elimination of Slum and Blight β Projects must address and eliminate slum or blight as defined by state law.
3.) Address an Urgent Need β Projects must respond to serious and immediate threats to health or safety, occurring within the past 18 months, with no other funding sources available.
Funding Categories Inglis may apply for funding under one or more of the following four categories:
1.) Commercial Revitalization
2.) Economic Development
3.) Housing Rehabilitation
4.) Neighborhood Revitalization
Eligible units of local government, such as the Town of Inglis, can tailor their applications to address specific local needs within these categories.
We Want Your Input!
Community feedback is vital to ensure that proposed projects align with public priorities. Please attend the Public Meetings to share your input and help shape Inglis' future.
The two (2) public meeting will be held on:
April 22 & 25, 2025 from 5:30 PM -6:30 PM
The Town of Inglis encourages all residents to participate and help guide future community development efforts.
