Description
The Town has been notified by several residents that there have been a few people posing as National Grid representatives going door to door trying to get your information for a rebate on your bill.  They ask to see your bill and tell you that you are eligible for the rebate.  They also gather other information.  These individuals are NOT employees of National Grid.

Do not give out this information.  Call the Niagara County Sheriff’s non-emergency number at 716-438-3393 to report it.

If you have been visited and gave out this information, please call National Grid at 1-800-642-4272 to freeze your account.  These companies may use your information to make changes to your account.

In the future, if anyone ever knocks on your door to sell you something, ask them for their Peddler’s Permit.  If they can not produce it, they are not authorized to sell anything in the Town.  Our code says that each person soliciting for a company has to obtain a Peddler’s Permit.  Call the Niagara County Sheriff’s Department non-emergency number immediately and also notify the Town.
