Red Flag Warning issued March 18 at 9:17PM CDT until March 20 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Lincoln IL
The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a Red Flag
Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect
from 1 PM Wednesday to 7 PM CDT Thursday.
* AFFECTED AREA...Schuyler, Mason, Logan, De Witt, Piatt, Cass,
Menard, Scott, Morgan, Sangamon, Christian, Macon, Moultrie,
Shelby, Effingham and Clay.
* TIMING...From 1 PM Wednesday to 7 PM CDT Thursday.
* 20 FOOT WINDS...West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 20 percent.
* 10 HOUR FUELS (GRASSES, LEAVES, TWIGS, PINE NEEDLES, ETC)...Less
than 10 percent.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
