...GUSTY SOUTH WINDS AND DRY AIR WILL RESULT IN CRITICAL FIRE
WEATHER CONDITIONS ALONG AND WEST OF THE I-35 AND I-37 CORRIDORS
TODAY...
.Gusty south winds and continued low humidity will be expected
across South Central Texas today resulting in critical fire
weather conditions for areas mainly along and west of the I-35 and
I-37 corridors. Sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph with a few gusts
to 35 mph will coincide with minimum relative humidity values of
9 to 20 percent across the affected area. Wind speeds decrease
and humidity levels will recover later tonight.
* AFFECTED AREA...locations along and west of the I-35 and I-37
corridors
* TIMING...From 11 AM this morning to 10 PM CDT this evening.
* WINDS...South 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 9 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Up to 86.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will rapidly increase in size
and intensity, move quickly, and be very difficult to control.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.
