Description
Red Flag Warning issued March 14 at 9:53PM CDT until March 15 at 9:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX
...Elevated to Critical Fire Weather Conditions Expected Today
and Saturday...
Elevated to critical fire weather conditions are expected across
portions of Southeast Texas on Saturday. Dry weather in the wake
of a cold front, west sustained winds around 10 to 20 mph with
gusts up to 30 mph, alongside afternoon relative humidity values
in the upper teens to middle 20s will lead to critical fire
weather conditions.
* WINDS...West 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 18 percent.
* TEMPERATURES...Up to 85.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that start could rapidly increase in size
and intensity, and move quickly. Outdoor burning is not
recommended.
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now...or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.
Exercise extra caution with respect to all outdoor activities
that could inadvertently cause wildfires.
Report wildfires quickly to local officials such as fire
department or law enforcement office.
