Description
As you spring forward on March 9, 2025, the Crafton Fire Marshall urges you to take a critical step beyond adjusting your clocks; protecting your family from fire. This is the most important prevention message.

Smoking materials are the number one cause of fire deaths.
· Smoke outside: Furniture, bedding, and papers inside can easily catch fire.
· Use sturdy ashtrays or sand buckets: Provide safe disposal for smokers.
· Smoke only when alert: Avoid smoking if you're sleepy or on medication.
· Never smoke near medical oxygen: Oxygen fuels fires, making them extremely dangerous.

A working smoke detector can be the difference between life and death. All residents are reminded to replace expired Smoke Detectors.
· Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years: This ensures they're functioning with the latest technology.
· Replace Batteries Twice a Year: To maintain consistent power.
· Test Your Detectors Monthly: To confirm they're working correctly.
· Install Smoke Detectors on Each Level of Your Home, Including the Basement and Inside of Each Bedroom: To maximize coverage.

These simple steps, along with ensuring your smoke detectors are in top condition, can make a significant difference.
