Description
Traffic Signal Alert: Station Rd (Rt 430) & Fremont St
Please be advised, the traffic signal at the intersection of Station Rd (Rt 430) and Fremont St has malfunctioned and reverted to a four-way flashing red signal, requiring all traffic to stop. As an added safety measure, the Public Works Crew will install stop signs at all four approaches first thing tomorrow morning. An advanced technician will also assess the issue tomorrow, providing further insight into the problem and repair options.
Note - This intersection is over 40 years old and in poor condition, requiring a full reconstruction. The Borough owns and maintains the signal, despite its location on a state road, and replacing it is estimated to cost over $300,000. The Borough plans to submit a grant application soon, but best-case scenario a reconstruction is at least two years aways still.
This is one of five Borough-owned intersections in need of complete reconstruction, and it ranks lowest in priority based on traffic volume. Maintaining and operating traffic signals remains a significant challenge for the Borough due to their complexity and cost.
We will keep you all updated as best as possible.
Thank you for your patience and caution at this intersection.
